Town History
Dysart is located in Tama County in central Iowa.
Dysart had its start in the year 1872 by the building of the Burlington, Cedar Rapids and Northern Railway through that territory. Dysart was platted in 1872. The town takes its name from Joseph Dysart, a farmer and founder of the town.
During the National Bank Note Era, the population of Dysart was 902 in 1900, staying fairly constant with 971 in 1930. It's highest population was 1,379 in 2010, and the current population is estimated at 1,355 (2016).
